Pat Engel

Pat Engel, Senior Consultant

Pat Engel, a senior consultant in public affairs, came to IDI as an independent government and public affairs consultant. Prior to that, Pat served in the United States Department of Agriculture, as the External Affairs Director of the Risk Management Agency.

Before relocation to the D.C. area, Pat served as the Assistant Director of Student Services at Monroe College in the Bronx where she helped to design an educationally viable, cost-effective tutoring center for the students that has remained in operation for almost ten years. She is also a special education teacher with particular experience in adult reading remediation.

As an officer of a Bronx-wide voting organization, Pat chaired the law committee, co-chaired two judicial screening panels, and served as campaign manager, and political consultant in several local area elections. She has also served in various capacities for local Bronx community groups such as the community planning board, and the board of directors of a day care center. She has raised funds for various groups, candidates, and causes.

Pat attended school in New York City, and holds an undergraduate degree from Herbert H. Lehman College of the City University of New York.

Pat and her husband, Congressman Eliot Engel (D., N.Y.) have homes in the Bronx and the Washington DC area. They have three children, Julia, Jonathan, and Philip.
